As companies reflect on this last year and look forward to what’s next, perhaps a company offsite is the perfect time to connect and recharge. Not only is it important for reflection, but can be great for company morale. When gathering people, serving them quality food is key. Urban Remedy, a plant-based organic food company focused on functional, healthy eating, takes this idea to heart. Their offsite at Cookhouse in San Francisco, hosted by the culinary educators and chefs from Just Add Salt, was the perfect setting for fresh thinking and community feasting.

Just Add Salt, the local cooking class and events company headed by sibling pair Lynda Marren and Joe Grillo, focuses on educating people from the farmers market to the final food presentation. As Joe Grillo said, "Three-quarters of your time cooking should be sourcing ingredients. It is important to get to know your vendors."

The San Francisco Bay Area luckily has access to an incredible array of farmers and fresh ingredients -- allowing for vibrant, delicious dishes year-round. And this menu brought in a few of the season's favorite ingredients.  As Just Add Salt led a cooking demonstration as part of the agenda, the sizzle of freshly foraged mushrooms and the aromatic citrus of the Kaffir lime curry left all mouths watering.

After a long day of brainstorms and planning (with a few snack breaks along the way), the Urban Remedy team sat down to an expansive meal, including local, seasonal vegetables, seafood, and meat dishes. Just Add Salt's core values of using sustainable, farm-fresh food were found throughout the inventive and flavorful meal. It was like sitting down to a meal with old friends, inspiring fresh ideas with great bites, and setting the plate for team-building conversations.

Enjoy Just Add Salt's shared recipes to inspire your own brain food.

Blistered Shishito Peppers

Often appearing on restaurant menus, shishito peppers are actually incredibly simple to make and delicious dressed with just a little bit of olive oil and sea salt.

Oatmeal-Butterscotch Cookies

I make double batches of these sweet, crispy cookies regularly and roll into balls to keep in the freezer. When kids sleep over or friends stop in unexpectedly, cookies are just moments away!

Cumin-Roasted Nuts & Seeds

When you roast these salty spiced nuts, they fill your kitchen with a rich, toasty aroma. The maple syrup helps the spice mixture adhere to the nuts and adds a crispy sweetness to the finished product...

Curly Kale Salad

Kale is the new black! Filled with calcium, potassium, zinc, vitamins A, C, and K, and a texture that guarantees maximum freshness in every bite.

Lemon Garlic Wine Prawns

When entertaining I like to start off the evening with a light source of protein, and these elegant shrimp skewers are always devoured immediately as I walk out of the kitchen.

Joe's Trumpet Mushrooms

The Bay Area founder of Just Add Salt, Lynda Marren's brother Joe came up with this deceptively simple side dish, sautéed trumpet mushrooms elevated with fresh herbs and a glaze of sherry and rice...

Rockfish With Mango Curry

I love grilling this fish on a cedar plank, which gives it a unique smoky flavor.

Weeknight Chicken Thighs

This bold marinade adds depth to the chicken with enough seasoning and spice to flavor the meat in a short amount of time.

Apple Spice Cake With Caramel Sauce

Expect an “Oh my! Do you share this recipe?” every time you serve this Apple Spice Cake to someone new!
