Thyme and Sage Tisane (Herbal Tea)

What’s a tisane? A tisane is an herbal tea made from an infusion of herbs and plant-based ingredients. There are no cured “tea” leaves Camellia sinensis in what is referred to as a “tisane.”

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage
  • 1 (2-inch) knob ginger, coarsely chopped
  • 1 lemon, halved crosswise
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • Honey for serving

Instructions

Thyme and Sage Tisane

1. Place the thyme, sage, and ginger in a 1-quart jar and then squeeze in the lemon halves before plopping them in the jar as well.

2. Pour the boiling water over the herbs, cover the jar, and let the herbs steep for about 10 minutes.

3. Strain the tisane through a fine-mesh sieve into two mugs and serve immediately.
