Why We Love It: Aver Family Vineyards is where friends become family. They create wines of distinction that you will be proud to share with your family and friends.

Update: John and Carolyn Aver have decided it's time to retire from the grape growing and winemaking business. As of September 18, 2021 they will close the Aver Family Vineyards tasting room, which is located in their home's front yard. The Avers will continue the business as a virtual winery until they sell through their current wine inventory, which they estimate will take a couple of years. Both the home and the vineyard property will be listed for sale in early fall.

Aver Family Vineyards was established in 2005 when John and Carolyn Aver purchased an 8.25 acre vineyard located in the Uvas Valley of Santa Clara County.  The vineyard and surrounding countryside create spectacular views and provide an idyllic setting for the outdoor tasting room. Visitors will discover premium wines featuring Rhône varietals.  Wines are paired with locally-sourced chocolates to enhance the tasting experience.

Vigneron John Aver crafts his wines from either estate grapes or grapes sourced from prominent California vineyards including Durell, Catie’s Corner and Gap’s Crown. The vineyard is cultivated using holistic farming practices and supplies Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah grapes.

Featured Wines:

2018 Family Album Grenache Blanc
The 2018 Grenache Blanc teases the nose with aromas of pineapple, lavender and yellow pear. It coats the mouth with its creaminess and delivers flavors of pear, white peach and finishes with pineapple notes.

2018 Grace Rosé
Grace is dedicated to mothers everywhere. They have always shown us the way through good times and bad. May we all live up to their grace. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre.

2015 Hope Rhône Blend
Aromas of anise, dark plum and blackberry open to underlying notes of black cherry, mocha and vanilla. The palate features black cherry with undertones of truffle and black pepper. The elegant tannic structure leads to a long finish, ending with notes of dark chocolate, making this a great wine to pair with a special meal.
