Outstanding in the Field: Secret Sea Cove
Shoes, sandals, boots, flip flops? After you cross the temporary bridge to the table, you'll probably want to ditch whatever you have on your feet and wiggle your toes in the sand. Whether it’s the abundance of negative ions, the warmth of the sun on your skin or the rumble of the surf, there is something very powerful going on here. If, overcome with the majesty of it all, you feel compelled to jump in the Pacific Ocean, go ahead. It’s all yours for the day, at least this small part of it. The host, Roland, is very particular about access. But if anyone manages to make it to this very private beach by swimming in the very chilly water from around the point several hundred yards away, you'll will have to welcome them and suggest time at the bonfire. Jessica Yarr from Assembly, a Santa Cruz favorite, will put together a feast from the sea that features fisherman Hans’ catch of the day.
