Roasted Carrot and Avocado Salad

Sometimes when you walk into a restaurant, you know right away that it's something special. I got this feeling when I walked into Amoura Restaurant—Mediterranean goodness in the heart of South San Francisco.

Our dining experience was a treat. As we sipped various wine and cocktail libations, Malcolm, the General Manager, explained each selection and it’s history. We learned about the Mediterranean region, tasted its flavors, and grew an appreciation for the Shihadeh family, owners of Amoura.

We first tried the Avocado and Roasted Carrots Salad with Cucumber, Feta & Dill. It was a vibrantly fresh bowl that we devoured instantly! The seasonal produce was so flavorful, it didn't take many ingredients for this dish to shine.

We then tried the Grilled Lamb Kabobs that came equipped with Butternut Squash, Cucumber, Bulgar and Green Chutney. The fresh quality of the lamb and intriguing flavors were a winner.

The Whole Grilled Branzino was a beauty, with grill lines to utter perfection. One of the chefs was sweet enough to share a new trick with us—use spoons and never knives when taking the meat off of the bones!

Our dinner was topped off with a Date Cake that wasn’t too sweet, but just right. Actually, that’s now the entire dinner felt. A perfect experience. These days, dining out is about the experience and about the food. Between Malcolm’s warm hospitality and his stories about Amoura, the savory and sumptuous food and lovely ambiance, Amoura has a lasting sweet taste in my mouth.

I will be back! Click here to see more photos on our Facebook page.
