Is the Edible Silicon Valley publishing license and existing branded business assets for sale?

Yes. The branded Edible Silicon Valley publishing license and content assets are for sale in 2023.

Edible Silicon Valley is a regional publishing imprint and brand operating license of the national independently-owned Edible Communities media network in the US and Canada, and operates as a licensed, independently-owned regional magazine and media business in the San Francisco Bay Area for all of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.

Who is selling the Edible Silicon Valley license imprint and assets?

The Edible license, imprint, content and business assets are wholly owned and operated by Time Too LLC, an independent publishing business in the Bay Area.  Under Time Too LLC's license agreement with Edible Communities, Time Too LLC maintains the right to sell and transfer the Edible license, as well as sell any business assets, media channels and content associated with Edible Silicon Valley.

What components of the Edible branded business and imprint are being offered for sale?

Business assets offered for sale include the transferable Edible Silicon Valley publishing license including Edible-provided logo/brand use and network operations, as well as specific business assets and content-design assets, created and published for Edible Silicon Valley since 2013.

The Edible Silicon Valley publishing license is being offered for resale, along with existing branded business assets for the Edible Silicon Valley imprint and business, including branded content (stories, recipes, how-tos), digital edition library, local guides, supplier lists, website and social channels, subscriber lists, etc.

This sale of the Edible Silicon Valley license and business includes access to the Edible Communities network which includes publisher orientation training, web and email hosting, trademark and brand administration, national readership surveys, national story content and opportunities, supplier referrals, regular community networking calls, and Edible business-sharing opportunities.

What is a publishing license?

Edible Communities operates a licensing business model and provides independent publishers a licensed imprint for their designated, licensed brand region of magazine distribution, and brand/trademark rights management. Edible Communities also provides access to business and network resources and opt-in access to a national network of publishers and partnerships.

An Edible publishing license is not a franchise. All plans, operations, editorial development, advertisers, subscribers, staff and suppliers are formed and built at the discretion and investment of the licensed publisher.

What is the Edible business model?

Each independent, licensed publisher makes their own brand-related business decisions under the terms of their Edible license agreement and is responsible for publishing a seasonal print magazine at least 4x per year and provisioning for a select number of national advertising pages/insertions.

Other business decisions and operations tied to their Edible license are at the discretion of each independent publisher. Publishers are responsible for all of their hiring, editorial and business operations, as well as all business decisions, operations, and revenue tied to their licensed Edible brand.

How does an Edible publisher make money?

Most licensed regional Edible publishers operate a combined advertising and subscription model for the print magazine, and advertising and partner-supported newsletters, web and social media channels.

All licensed Edible publishers must at a minimum publish and distribute advertising-supported print magazines for their region each year, which includes an allocated number of pages for national advertising per the license agreement.

Decisions for additional media channels or branded business extensions–subscription programs, newsletters, social media, local events, sponsored custom publications service, and regional ad participation–are at the discretion of each licensed independent publisher.

Licensed publishers can also extend their business models with approval from Edible Communities to produce branded events, sponsored guides, pop-ups, video content production, custom publications, as well as the sale of local food and drink-related products under the guidelines of the license agreement.

What kind of support would I receive from Edible Communities and the Edible network?

Owning an Edible publication and license can either be an extension to our existing publishing or communication business offering a readymade entry with a proven brand and audience or can be treated as an entrepreneurial venture.

Upon purchasing the license and business assets, licensed independent publishers make their own decisions regarding editorial content, advertising offerings, advertising and media rates, subscriptions, magazine distribution, printing, digital venues, local staffing and advertising revenue generation.

Who would be good candidates for this publishing venture and in particular the Edible Silicon Valley license?

For existing publishing and media businesses looking for a great opportunity to grow their offerings and platform with a recognizable, award-winning brand and established expertise in food, drink, gardening, local travel, community, sustainability and green living, Edible Silicon Valley brings instant credibility and local audiences hungry for what Edible has to offer.
