Annieglass Wins Green Award at 26th Annual ARTS Awards during Dallas Total Home & Gift Market
Watsonville, CA— Annieglass was announced winner of the 26th Annual ARTS Awards Green Award for eco- sustainability and their novel compilation of environmentally conscious practices, at a gala ceremony held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX, during the Dallas Total Home and Gift Market, on January 16, 2015.
Co-founded by ART and the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, the annual ARTS Awards is the premier international award program recognizing top designers, manufacturers, retailers, and sales representatives from across the world. Individuals in the home accents industry cast votes in multiple categories to nominate industry peers during the June-July ballot period. After a thorough review process of work by the judges and a tabulation of scores, the winners were revealed at the 26th Annual ARTS Award gala.
Renowned star Donny Osmond acted as master of ceremony during the gala, as leading industry pioneers, including Mad Men’s Bryan Batt, presented the distinguished awards, with the Green Award going to Annieglasss for eco-sustainability.
Having been involved in the first Earth Day as a teenager in 1970, environmental responsibility has always been important to Annie Morhauser, founder and artist of Annieglass. A novel compilation of thoughtful sustainability measures are taken throughout the handcrafted, glass tableware making process at Annieglass. Creative kiln firing times ensure energy efficiency during the trademark “slumping” of glass, all scrap glass gets donated for reuse, and earth-friendly, biodegradable packing materials made of sorghum and potato starch deliver the final luxury product to customers. An advocate for sustainable responsibility, Annie also donates 20% of sales from her Suncatcher collection to the Clean Ocean Project and their pioneering mission of turning plastic into fuel.
“It is wonderfully rewarding to be recognized for our efforts to run a green-conscious business. Sincere thanks to those who nominated Annieglass, and to the ARTS Awards,” stated Annie. Jeanette Lamont, owner of William M. Lamont Co., a representative of Annieglass, accepted the award on Annie’s behalf.
