Taking a composite soil sample
Taking a soil sample. UC ANR Publication 3420

Please join UC Cooperative Extension on Saturday, November 4th, 9-12 at Martial Cottle Park in San Jose, for a free workshop on soil contamination risks in urban soils.

We'll learn what are some common sources of contamination and pathways of exposure in an urban environment, how to decide what to sample for and where, how to take a good soil sample and select a lab, as well as practice assessing sites, identifying sources of contamination, and interpreting lab results. We'll also talk about best practices to minimize risk and remediate soil. This workshop is targeted to urban farmers, and home, school, and community gardeners.
