LOS ALTOS, CA… Celebrate the return of the Downtown Los Altos Farmers’ Market on Thursday, May 3rd from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm at State St. and Second St.! To kick off the season, the farmers’ market will be hosting a variety of festive activities for both children and adults, including a cooking demonstration with Chef Laura Stec, kids crafts, a delectable sangria tasting, live music and the $100 Market Basket Raffle! The ribbon cutting at 5pm by District 5 County Supervisor Joe Simitian will officially open the market for the 2018 season.

Renowned local food author and educator Laura Stec-Innovative Cuisine will host a special cooking class at market from 5pm-7pm. Chef Laura will show customers how to make quick and easy snacks & dishes using the spring harvest. Free samples and recipes will be provided! Children attending the Los Altos Certified Farmers’ Market Opening Day will be greeted by monster-sized murals to color and free kids’ crafts. Adults should come ready to enjoy a glass of delicious sangria supplied by the Los Altos Village Association. The sangria will feature locally produced wine and sweet cherries from the market!
This summer, community members can look forward to the return of the Downtown Green pop-up park!

The farmers’ market will be hosting special events like fruit tastings, cooking demos, and flower crown making on the Downtown Green every Thursday night July 26th-August 30th. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for the annual Los Altos Farmers’ Market Kid’s Day, held on Thursday, July 26th this year.
Marketgoers are encouraged to sample Rodriguez Farms vine-ripened organic strawberries, and get ready for the season’s incoming sweet cherries and berries. Spring vegetables like crisp sugar snap peas from Iacopi Farms, fresh picked coastal lettuces and kales, and flavorful green garlic and leeks are currently in abundance. Kayla Hayden, Market Manager of the Los Altos Farmers’ Market, says “We look forward to another successful season of connecting the local community with family farms and gourmet food purveyors!”

The Los Altos Certified Farmers’ Market is a location approved by the County Agricultural Commissioner where farmers offer for sale only those fruits and vegetables they grow themselves. The Los Altos Certified Farmers’ Market is graciously sponsored by the Los Altos Village Association and the City of Los Altos.
