Visiting artist and pastry chef Sam Shem opens Tapestry Suppers new season

For our 2018 season opener Tapestry Suppers is proud to present legendary Chinese-Canadian artist and pastry chef Sam Shem, who will offer a 6-course vegetarian tasting menu inspired by his personal journeys of food and travel. 

A global traveller and dedicated yoga practitioner, Sam launched a culinary revolution in Mysore, the world capital of Ashtanga yoga with Saturday Sweets, his weekly dessert pop-up. An essential fixture in the social calendar for the past eight years, health-conscious palates line up every weekend to taste his feel-good desserts made with raw, vegan, and fresh ingredients. Don't miss this chance to taste Sam's creations for yourself as he develops a unique tasting menu only for Tapestry Suppers.

"Dream of the Other" is an exploration of self, home, longing and nostalgia; and how our experiences shape the way we see, taste and design food. It is a attempt to look through the eyes or senses of another subject, so that we can see and taste a different perspective. Sam's work explores a rich and wide landscape of flavors and textures in a personal but contemporary context. This event will showcase a menu of both sweet and savory compositions inspired over the course of his world travels.
